Go Go Next Media Animation!

Finally, some properly snarky coverage of Singapore.

CSJ will survive; he's been through this countless times before. The SDP has a lot more momentum this round of elections, and they had seen it coming a while ago.

I'm going to London!

I'll be there from 28 January to 8 February, just in time to miss Chinese New Year.

Also, I'll be appearing at these two literary events. Possibly a third, if we get our act together. :)

Count on Queers, Singapore!
Friday, 28 January 2011, 5:30-7pm
Room 104 (Senate House, First Floor), Institute of Commonwealth Studies
School of Advanced Study, University of London

Part of a public seminar series on Singapore Politics at the University of London. Queer Singaporean writers Ng How Wee and myself will be chairing the first part of the event, followed by a talk by Dr Simon Obendorf (University of Lincoln) on queer politics in Singapore.

Crime Night, 29 January, 8pm at Prologue, Orchard ION

Haven't mentioned this before, but I'm in Crime Scene: Singapore, and anthology of crime writing set in this country, edited by Richard Lord and published by Monsoon Books. Buy it! I get royalties. :D

There's an event happening later this month, but unfortunately I'll be in London at the time (never mind what the poster says). Go support these writers anyways.

N.B. It's on Amazon too!

Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wrinkle in Time" in 90 seconds

I love this! We actually did this book for literature class when I was ten years old, thereabouts.

Long-lost brothers?

I just finished reading Derek Walcott's epic poem Omeros over on my other blog.

Incidentally, I've realised that Walcott and Gabriel García Márquez look uncannily alike.

They're born just three years apart: Walcott in 1930, Gabo in 1927. It's a plot twist worthy of a telenovela!

Something to make you guys feel old.

French kids puzzling over tech antiques from the '80s!

And remember, these tykes are from a nation that's culturally stuck in the 19th century. Would kids from, say, South Korea or Dubai be even more flummoxed?

UPDATE: Turns out they're from Montréal. No wonder they're so chill with the racial diversity.
